"Socially-distanced Happy Hour (1)" 13.5 x 13.5 inches framed
When I first started painting at home after my studio was temporarily closed under Denver's stay-at-home order, I was confused, worried, and unsure of what the future would hold both personally and for my art practice and business.
As I began accepting this new reality as much as possible, I started to see bright spots. One bright spot was a socially-distanced happy hour with neighbors. We looked forward to it and watched for each other outside around a particular, earlier than usual, happy hour. It was comforting to know we were looking out for each other.
We ran to the store for some, we borrowed baker's yeast from others, and traded meals. I realized this was a unique time. We cared for and got to know our community in a much deeper way than we might have before; there was time. And it made clear how much we'd all needed it.⠀
As the sun went down, I'd head back inside, grab dinner, and found another bright spot being able to walk into my studio and paint.⠀⠀⠀
