The Pandemic Time Capsule Series

This work is my creative attempt at recording and processing the pandemic from my perspective.

I started working on these pieces from my home quarantine studio in March 2020, adjusting the size of my usual large-scale pieces to 12 x 12-inch squares after my RiNo studio was temporarily closed due to Denver's stay-at-home order.

I've felt driven to mark this moment. ⁣⁣

Painting this new body of work during the pandemic has been one of the most healing and comforting ways to navigate the year. I have noticed a big range of emotions captured within this series through the colors, the marks, and the energy. I guess that's fitting, seeing that this year feels like many wrapped up into one.

In the end, I want each piece in this series of work to be my time capsule in a sense. Because we're living through quite an incredible point in history, and I know the meaning of each painting will evolve and help me make more sense of this time in the future. I've felt driven to mark this moment. ⁣⁣
